Spread the LOVE, not the BUG
While we’re isolating and social distancing, my 7 year old and I designed a fun way to spread the love with our neighbors ( DOWNLOAD sheet). It’s called “Spread the Love, not the Bug.” To start, all you need to do is wash your hands and then gather 2 empty bags. Fill each bag with some fun surprises for two of your neighbors- the poem on the left side of the sheet (see DOWNLOAD) provides some ideas to get you started. Once you are ready to fill your bags, wash your hands again and wipe everything down with a disinfectant wipe (just to be safe!) and then deliver to the doorsteps of 2 neighbors. Each neighbor will then prepare 2 bags for 2 more neighbors, and so forth. Once you’ve been “bit with the love bug,” you hang this sign on your front door so that you don’t get “bit” again.
This community initiative emphasizes:
- Kindness
- Sharing with Others
- Community Spirit
- Creativity
- Hand washing
A small sample of what we put in our bags is shown in the featured photo, plus we added small toys, candy, popcorn, bath products for kids, and a pampering bag for mom. All items were found around our home and wiped down with a disinfectant wipe before packing up in a bag. Can’t wait to brighten our neighbors’ day!!
